François Rabelais is a catholic priest, doctor, and humanist writer, who was borne in 1483 at “La Devinière”, close to Le Clos Chavigny and died in Paris in 1553.

His literary work, Pantagruel and Gargantua, prefigures the realist and satiric novels and is considered to be one of the first models of the modern novel. He is among France's best-known writers.
